Dr. Dirk Kuhlmeier

Dr. Dirk Kuhlmeier is a chemist by training who received a diploma degree from Technical University in Braunschweig. He conducted his PhD research in biochemistry at the German Research Center for Biotechnology and the CSIRO for Molecular Science in Melbourne (Australia), before he pursued his studies as a Post-doc at Irish National Microelectronics Research Center until 2001. After nearly ten years of extensive experiences in R&D departments of different diagnostic companies, he accepted a position at Fraunhofer, Europe’s largest organization for applied science and research. Since 2021, he is leading Department of Diagnostics at the German Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology in Leipzig. Dr. Kuhlmeier has been actively involved at regional, national, and international levels promoting projects to support better diagnostics for global health. In March 2023, he co-founded the start-up INTU diagnostics helping to bring innovative inventions to the patients in need.
