Lecture description

This presentation examines some of the productivity and sustainability challenges facing the mining and aggregates industries and how auditing, digital solutions, upgrades, and expert service can provide fast, easy-to-implement gains. If mine operators are to meet the ambitious, Paris-aligned sustainability targets they are currently setting, optimising existing sites and plants is of crucial importance. This means solutions must be available and implementable in the short term. The key to discovering and unlocking new efficiencies on current sites lies in service, upgrades and digital solutions that optimise performance and resource use. While breakthrough technologies take a significant amount of time to develop, pilot, up-scale and finally reach widespread adoption, simple improvements through site auditing and digital optimisation can be rolled out quickly and easily. And ROI can be short. An optimised mine not only delivers a reduced footprint and environmental impact but through more efficient resource use and higher throughput, it can also cut operating costs and boost productivity, as well as eliminating other potential issues, such as resource conflict or difficulty in securing licence to operate.
