Human ability to imagine objects that are not physically present is limited. In construction planning this problem is amplified and can lead to mistakes with far-reaching consequences. Augmented Reality (AR) can help our imagination tremendously. In combination with Building Information Modeling (BIM) the technology ensures that we can see all objects and their relationships to surroundings. AR applications can be used to better present and understand constructions. Decisions in the early planning phases can be made faster and error-free. This talk examines application areas of AR, its infrastructural requirements and highlights case studies of companies that already successfully use AR in construction planning.
